I've downloaded AVAST for my husband's laptop - it's free, it works, and it isn't too greedy, so I sujspect that is what I shall turn to when my Norton sub ends. Norton v3 seems to be very light. Caught more Trojans than Kaspersky. Recently Kaspersky seems be putting more effort on catching illegal keys than viruses or Trojans. Thanks for sharing the info. So a small bit about what you are seeing. The first is when Windows the operating system takes over the boot processes and load so the computer becomes functional. The problem then becomes, what ISN'T legitimate. The entry that Malwarebytes is the one we are concerned with. Have MBAM remove that entry and restart the system. It will clear it from its history and the computer. Done deal. Some will start when Windows starts.
Windows will present a screen for you where you can select from 4 things. Click on Task Manager. See screenshot provided. The process tab has been selected for use. These are what I am seeing in my task manager on my Dell gaming rig at present. Nothing there isn't a legitimate process. They CAN indicate a source of malware and other issues. Open yours and watch for processes using CPU and other resources in an inappropriate manner.

For example, when Process Explorer launches it can be configured to upload every process running on your computer to VirusTotal. Any suspicious or malicious process running on your system should have a poor score e. If you want to add additional columns to the Process Explorer interface e.

I live in Canada and found this product on sale at Amazon. I haven't tried OpenOffice or LibeOffice so I can't speak from personal experience, but I investigated a few free Office suites and thought LibreOffice was the better choice for me. There's a good YouTube video at LibreOffice vs. It has very good support in "manual" form if you click on HELP on the toolbar at the top -- or use F1. I've used the online version rather than install it and be nagged to update it probably.
I'm not an expert on it and I just use it for the very occasional letter or more frequently I use its Spreadsheet to keep track of our monthly income and expenditure. If you want to post a screenshot of the Startup tab of your Task Manager i. For example, I can see Mozilla Maintenance Service listed under "Necessary" so I'm guessing you have a Firefox browser installed, but there's nothing in those screenshots to tell us if services and executables for important programs like your Norton antivirus are launching correctly at boot-up. I'm not qualified to interpret these FRST diagnostic logs and these logs shouldn't be posted publicly in this Norton forum , but you might find some useful information there, including a list of all your installed programs, recent Event Log and System errors, etc.
